FOREWORD | BIOGRAPHY


> Born in Leipzig, Saxony, in 1955; has lived in Berlin since 1976.
> 1976-1981 Studied archaeology and art history at Humboldt Universität in Berlin. Took diploma.
> 1981-1984 Secretary of the Central Work Group of Young Artists with the Central Committee of the GDR Artists’ League.
> 1984 Dismissed. Forbidden to work.
> 1984-1990 Freelance critic and exhibition curator in Berlin and eastern Europe. Edited books on artists, music cassettes and records in URSUS PRESS, unauthorised private publishers.
> 1990 Worked occasionally with galleries. Co-founded Galerie Vier in Berlin.
> From 1991 Project Director at Künstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin and co-editor of BE magazine.
> 1994 Co-founder of Brandensburg Kunstverein Potsdam e. V. and deputy chairman until 2003.
> From 2000 also managing director of Künstlerhaus Bethanien GmbH.
> Since 2003 member of the board of directors of Berlin Photography Festival e.V.
> 2005 Awarded the Gold Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
> 2006 Reviewer at FotoFest Houston, Texas, and FotoFest Beijing.
> Member of the editorial council of EUROPEAN PHOTOGRAPHY.
> Member of the Fine Art / Exhibitions Council at the Goethe Institute, Munich.
> Member of the Arts Council of the Federal State of Berlin.
